Warhol, Haring, Basquiat and Shnabel back to Naples

The stars of New York - Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Jean Michel Basquiat - illuminate the galleries of the Palace Zevallos Stigliano in Naples now focusing on the vibrant cultural climate of the 1980s and the most important stars of the last pictorial revolution.

The extraordinary decade that, from culture to economy, from art to world life, had witnessed a significant and flourishing boom on various fronts, had seen a stimulating inspiration for the artistic revival in Naples.

In particular, thanks to the activity of the galleries of Lucio Amelio, Lia Rumma, Peppe Morra and Studio Trisorio, which made the bridge between Italy and New York, the city of Vesuvius -Naples- has undertaken its fruitful dialogue with five extraordinary icons active between Naples and New York.

In fact, the years in which Andy Warhol, in great creative dust, had done several works linked to the italian territory of Naples, such as the Vesuvio series and the famous "Fate Presto".

In these fortunate and overwhelming years there was also someone who had crossed the ocean in the opposite direction, such as the neapolitan Francesco Clemente, rock star of the italian painting, emerged with the Transavanguardia group and known for the courageous choice of conjugating language and images of South Italy in a much more international style.

It is to Francesco Clemente who belongs to the ceiling fresco of Palladium, an important New York nightclub of the time.

There are also paintings from Julian Schnabel, who in the mid-1990s joined art as a new director of film production, obtaining excellent results, starting from the generational portrait under the form of a film dedicated to his friend and colleague Basquiat.

Exclusively share this fascinating meeting with an important selection of works by the five great artists from private collections, from institutions such as the Madre Museum of Naples and the collection of Intesa Sanpaolo Bank of Naples .

To compose this unusual encounter between two interesting artistic realities there are also paintings of Jean Michel Basquiat.

The exhibition, curated by Luca Beatrice, open to the public until November 5, represents a significant moment for Palazzo Zevallos in Naples,

For the first time with two works of Warhol in the Intesa Sanpaolo collection, Palazzo Zevallos opens to American painting of the last century, demonstrates the ability of the Galleries to renew their cultural offerings, addressing issues other than those of the great classical tradition.
